Bag

Here is going to be me writing about the downfall of my bag. I had a bag, originally, I remember buying this bag from TjMaxx when I was younger like a lot of years ago. I went with my mom, back when we used to do that every once in a while before I had my own money and would beg her to buy me something (she rarely agreed to this). Now, she just goes with her friend. And I barely go there either. Especially right now. Until I find a job...which could be pretty soon if things work out.
It's a pink with black straps Steve Madden bag and I got it for ballet. I did use it as my ballet bag for many years. But when I stopped doing ballet, it kind-of sat there purposely for a while.
My first year in university I used a backpack someone gave. I saw all the girls with the bags but I wasn't really inspired by that.
But I didn't like my backpack, and this bag wasn't being used. And the backpack would hurt my back. I don't know...a lot of hate and random inspiration inspired me to, before my second year, decide I would now use this bag as my schoolbag.
Well, that ended up being bad.
At first it was fine. I also kind-of ignored the issue. But anything heavy, like my iPad (which I got for second year) and my laptop, would cause the bag to sink in vertically. It looked very strange. It wasn't very supportive for those expensive electronics in anyway.
There was no support on the bottom. This, unfortunately not only led to my iPad case getting so messed up, dirty somehow (even though from many years ago experience I learned to put no pencils in a bag) and ripped in many places by the end of the year. When, it was brand new in the summer! Honestly that's quite upsetting. Let me not think about that.
Not only that, but something a LOT worse happened. I believe, that this bag situation led my laptop to breaking, which triggered a horrible CASCADE of events that you can read about in other blogposts.
It must've hit the door. Another thing with this bag, is that even if you were to orient the iPad and laptop correctly i.e. horizontally, it ends up hitting you and hurting your thigh more than you could believe, so, my poor boyfriend who would take the bag and who thinks he might've broke the laptop, would hurt himself by taking and carrying my bag from me anytime we were near.
When I say broke, I mean, cracked in the corner, which would make sense with the door theory, and the LEDs started dying. So technically it still works...just uh...probably at this point, half the screen is just black. Or colorful lines. But either way, that's not very good. Like I wasn't able to access and see how much battery percentage I had for MONTHS now. Stuff like that. Buttons on the top right corner...completely out of reach to me.
Those were my main issues with my bag. I liked the idea but clearly there were just too many horrible problems. I have too many expensive things to be just thrown in like that.
There were other things I did not like. There is no place to put a water bottle. And I have a Starbucks orange pink and blue ombré pretty water bottle that I'd like to be able to use.
Also, I really have never liked umbrellas. But my coat, it's stupid rain-resistant hood is certainly not that resistant for long periods of times when I have to walk 20 minutes to every class. And so it gets soaked, especially if it starts pouring. And it starts soaking through to my hair. Very unpleasant.
So with a backpack, it has the water bottle holders that can also hold an umbrella. Basically one water bottle holder, one umbrella holder.
You know, in lecture, I started looking at a girl who had a nice little backpack. A compact little backpack. What really attracted me was how safe it looked like the laptop was kept.
Because I'm telling you, I got a new laptop before the semester ended, and I didn't dare to take that thing anywhere with me. Or especially even more...to put it in the bag. I was too scared of scratching it or hurting it somehow. So it just stayed in my boyfriend's dorm, in its nice little white box with the pink laptop pictured on the front.
Another minor thing but the straps on the bag started to peel. It was just not good.
So now I'm looking a fresh start in so many regards, and this is one a must!
I looked at some grey or navy blue (I don't know, those colors just popped in my head for a laptop) engineering backpacks on amazon. I found some nice ones, but my parents had a nice extra backpack lying around so they gave me that instead.
It's compact, it has the water bottle holders, it's perfect for traveling for airport regulations too (I like the multipurpose). It seems like it would stay clean and nice-smelling. It's expensive, and a good brand. What's important to me is that it has the laptop pocket. I can put my iPad in there too.
Can't wait to, once I have a job of course, take it with me to Starbucks, sit there, drink my pink drink, put my laptop in the pocket in the nice little backpack.:)
