Dancing

I feel like it's pretty obvious by now that I am passionate about ballet; but let's talk about dance. All types of dance, and why. Partly because I've also recently more familiar with (other) types of dancing. I still have much to learn; so I'm sure I will edit/add on to this post later.

Ballet:

Reasons why I love it:

  1. Rich in history and culture

    1. Classy, old, been around for a while, yet just as classy and never-aging as ever (will never get old or lose its shine; it's like it has a never ending spark, and each and every generation can experience it just as bright, for the first time ever in their lives).

    2. Classical

    3. Classical music

    4. I don't know something about it is just so "proper" and right

    5. It's just so beautiful, watching it and dancing it makes your soul soar

      1. It's like the equivalent of the beauty and expression that music gives (and it's combined with music (beautiful classical music) so that's like what, x3 effect ?!)

      2. Like watching ballet makes me want to cry everytime

      3. Just so dainty and pretty

  2. There's so much people don't know and don't think about when it comes to ballet:

    1. It looks easy and effortless, but it's actually so beyond difficult and painful, years go by

      1. Flexibility (constant pain and difficulty; can be hard to maintain)

      2. Pointe shoes hurt like hell

      3. Rhythm

      4. Turns, trusting yourself

      5. Injury is so easy (you have to be really careful (similar to gymnastics))

      6. BUT THE POINT IS TO MAKE IT LOOK EASY, and everyone is fooled (until you do it yourself)

Enough about ballet. Let's talk about other types of dance.

Recently tried swing dancing:

  1. Expected to hate it; it's actually so fun!

  2. As a girl/lead, you just get thrown around (twirl, spin, but it's so fun and you actually don't get tired/headache/nauseous, I'm convinced you're immune from these things purely because you're having so much fun).

  3. Social dance

  4. It rings close to home somehow, because it reminds me of country/country dancing (social dancing in general too) and I've always resonated more with the countryside than the city (not a city girl; countrygirl), so look at me finally feeling more at home/like I belong. You would know how much this means to me, if you know me and my struggles at all.

    1. I can imagine myself living more in the country than anything

      1. Don't want to be by a city at all

        1. Unfortunately I'll have to be

        2. Hate cities

        3. Dirty ew man-made

        4. Love nature 😍

        5. Wanna live in the middle of nowhere 🤩

Ballroom

  1. So there's actually so many different and I haven't tried them all (at least I think). I'm still learning what they even are.

    1. But I know waltzing for example, and I like it for similar reasons to ballet.

      1. Except it's with a partner

        1. Which I like, and don't

          1. Dancing with a partner personally makes me nervous, it makes me not want to mess up as much because my dancing abilities are suddenly dependent for somebody (so as a result, I mess up more, it kinda sucks a lot)

          2. But on the other hand, it's nice being able to have a dancing style I enjoy with a person, and I'm sure it would hit harder if I actually really liked the person romantically (if that ever happened). That would be the bomb.

    2. Argentine Tango

      1. Not a fan

      2. It's slow

      3. It's boring

      4. I don't like the music in general

      5. It almost reminds me of jazzy, and I don't like that either

      6. It's like the opposite of anything elegant

      7. I don't even like that the girls wear heels

      8. That is SO impractical for dancing

        1. I bet it causes so many injuries

        2. It does not make any sense to me (pointe shoes make more sense)
