January Update on NY Goals (every month???)

Hello!

I might start doing a monthly update on my NY (New Year) goals. But either way, I wanted to make one for January because I managed to accomplish something cool unexpectedly over winter break! You know that book I was reading, Сын Человеческий? Yeah I managed to finish it over break, like the day before I went back. It was on Saturday, January 18th, 2025.

Dreams do happen! Unexpectedly!

I am now going to read another book by the same author. This one is called, История Религии (в поисках пути, итины, и жизни).

And so, my friends, my journey to 1) finish that book ✅ 2) read more (specifically Russian + orthodox books...) continues!!

I have soooo many English books on my bookshelf and honestly just don't know if I ever? want to read them.

It's been years, and my priorities have changed to reading Russian, reading about Orthodoxy (in Russian, of course, because that makes sense..). And they have been like that for a while.

And I have more exciting news//more ways I am furthering this particular NY goal of mine to do with reading.

I am taking a Russian Literature course this semester! Just started classes today, and I had it today. I can already tell I will love it. We read a short story and it was hilarious.

However, I will personally be reading all of Anton Chekhov's works in the original (Антона Чехова).

That was also a part of that particular NY goal. To read Russian literature.

Not only did I have to take an English (though I guess it's not really English for me now is it lol...more like "Russian") course for credit for med school (I'm pre-med...) but this is perfect!! This is part of my goals...part of my personal hobbies...

I would and will read Russian literature anyway....

And it's just awesome that I can get credit for something I genuinely enjoy and find fun and would do on my own time ANYWAY (and will), and, have something to keep me so disciplined while I'm at it too (a class, course, deadlines, schedule...) (even though some might say I'm pretty disciplined myself as is lol).

That's the end for today. I will keep you updated on my other goals, how they are going, keep myself disciplined, school is starting...semester is starting...

p.s. I would write blog posts in Russian too but I don't know who would read that and understand that. Though I guess I can do whatever I want on my blog, and the right people will always find it.
