Sharing Music🎧

In other places on this blog, I've written about music. But here's a new aspect of why I think we all love music so much.
Besides it being a way of expression...
There's something about sharing music. Because, there's intimacy of music.
It's such a big part of everyone's lives! (I hardly know anyone who hates music).
If music is inexpressible in other ways, by sharing music with people, we share parts of ourselves we can't otherwise. And besides, these parts are so intimate, intricate, and complex.
Then again, also slightly depends on what you're sharing:
A sad, meaningful song with deep lyrics?
Some cartoon song?
Obviously, these two won't have the same impact, and won't reveal the same things.
Scenario:
Say you're a party or a social gathering. The instant you click, or the song switches, from say, some silly song you turned on as a joke, to a song you actually really like, is inevitably already an intimate moment.
In that switch, everything about a person shifts, from their interaction, feeling, and engagement with the song, to their singing along,
"I love this song" and you're left wondering what it is about the song that they love so much, and what it can reveal about them.
It's powerful when a song
represents someone a person can resonate with, through lyrics
combined with good beats and something enjoyable to listen to, and that's dangerously powerful now.
Why do people get shy about singing? All the same reasons, it's equally desirable and hard to want to share this power of music with others, and what it does to us; what it reveals about us.
It's about what we're willing to share and leave unrevealed.
