Violet Bridgerton has a point!

I am a huge fan of the Netflix original "Bridgerton." When I started watching, I was addicted. I watched the seasons so fast, and got so excited when new seasons were announced and the dates loomed closer.
It was a new discovery of myself. I knew I had loved romance practicularly all my life, but it was a discovery of the specific time period romance movies I actually liked (I think modern romance is almost always completely terrible, at least to me, it's extremely cringey and not touching at all). I guess people just used to be more romantic...*eyeroll* I guess I challenged myself by writing my own modern romance!
So, I think that it might be a little weird that I watched the actual show/seasons so long ago, but am still thinking about it a lot. Particularly, Violet Bridgerton in season 3...and quotes that she says...are stuck in my head.
In season 3, we have the most boring character ever: (*drumroll please*)...Francesca! God, guys, she's just so boring. She literally is such an NPC I don't know why she is in the show at all. They must've had some trouble with that aspect of S3 because they even switched the actor for her (if you check on Francesca in S1 and S2, it's a different actress, and even though you could make the argument that she just simply "grew," it doesn't actually make sense because the characters younger and older than her...they all stay the same...every single member of the character actor or actress stays the same...
Dylan Is In Trouble, one of my favorite YouTubers, who watches and commentates on shows and movies with his viewers, actually talked about this too, and it couldn't be more true. She is so boring...why is she on the show? And as Dylan said, "they made a character who doesn't want to be on the show..." In the show, she practically hates her life, her family, she just wants to get away, she wants to get married quickly, she doesn't care about love...(the show is about love).
But what's SO weird is that (and Dylan mentions this too), the show very intentionally has moments when Francesca looks super jealous of Penelope...for example (main character of S3 with an actual amazing romance plot) and wants to be like her...wants to change...wants to care about love...chose her nonchalant husband wrong...
But the show goes nowhere with this, which is just so weird. Francesca is just so weird in general. She's mysterious because we don't know much about her. That moment that I'm thinking about, I think it's the very last episode or something, when Penelope's troubeles are resolved and everything is dandy.... Francesca looks like she's going to KILL Penelope. The way she's looking at her is just so scary, and probably accounting for it is the fact that we know like NOTHING aboout Francesca (mysteriosity).
Maybe the creators of Bridgerton just didn't have a plot for her LOL and needed her out of there, so that they could focus on the characters they actually did have a plot for. That's the only thing that makes sense of it all.
All that is to say what the mom, Violet Bridgerton, had to say about it. She never approved of Francesca and her chosen match of her nonchalant hubby John. The show tries to make amends at the end where the mom just seems somewhat accepting of it all LOL. But throughout the entire show, and again they went nowhere with this plot (a misleader), the mom is saying how Francesca basically should have a grand love story.
Okay actually now I know the reason why this hits so close home to me right now at this point in my life, right now. Violet Bridgerton has a point, about Francesca. But is it saying something deeper?
Stay tuned and read in the next blog post...
