This particular point might get done even before summer, but I need to get a new computer. I'm writing on it right now, but, on my old ones, the LED on like..hmm...1/6 of the computer died? It's usable- but every time I open it it looks different. In fact right now, I'm looking at it and there's pretty green lines on the black (it looks pretty) but on the rest of it it's still cloudy and blue. And towards the bottom there's purple lines. I swear on the bottom the computer looks straight-up infected, with cloudy/heavenly blue being soaked up by a blackish gray. The story behind this computer is that I got it for an online russian math school in like 7th grade- that absolutely tortured me. Thinking back to that is weird- I viewed it as such a weird time- but truthfully- so much of my personality, so much of ME, was already there. I remember laughing at my teacher when he said he wanted me to enroll in the honors section. But I guess I did put so much blood, sweat, and tears into that class (literally, I would stay home on the weekends instead of hanging out with friends, and I would just sit at the kitchen table hunched over crying while my dad yelled at me ;o). There would be like 100 HARD problems of homework every week, and like 3 1/2 hour classes weekly. I never even saw those math problems in any higher math classes- and I've taken calc III and lin alg diffeq. So that's something huh. The only people in my class were probably russian in the same exact situation (I had a russian friend whose parents also forced her to do this) or some random guy from Seoul or something logging in from like South Korea. I actually think his name might've been named after the city.
Right now- my considerations for a computer are based on a couple of things I use it for right now in my classes, but also convenience things and things that I care about, right?
I'm in ochem lab right now, and holy do we have to screenshot webmo and HNMR/CNMR/HSQC/GCMS graphs like a lot. So one thing is that I want it to be convenient and fast to screenshot. For reference, currently, I have a Macbook Air Retina 13-inch (2018). I think it was new the year I got it.
I also want it to be convenient to send things. Like airdropping all these screenshots is so easy and fast and convenient. It has been so nice. I understand that I won't be in this class soon any longer, and the need won't be there that intensely. But at the same time, I just want it to be that nice and convenient, especially if the need will arise like that demand ever again. It's nice to know it will be easy.
Touchscreen and flippable would be nice since I didn't have that with this computer.
I guess just for it to be nice to write with? I don't love this keyboard, and so for writing (besides right now) I usually use my iPad with its keyboard that's much nicer to write on. But a nice computer keyboard might inspire me so much more...too...
I need to be able to download stuff for school. Like for instance this semester I had to download R for coding for stats, and MestReNova for opening the graphs for ochem lab. Another example from the past (God) I hope I never have to download again but when I took my Java course.
So right now I'm looking at Acer Chrombook Spin Plus 514...
Update I got it! And I like it so far. Obviously there is a lot still to explore...I will update you. I had to get it because the lines starting spreading!! The dead LEDs!!!
