Music Videos🎥

When the semester ended and I finally got off of school, one of the things that popped into my head to do as an activity for the summer is listen to a whole lot of music, read the lyrics, and watch the music videos if there were any. For some of my favorite artists and albums.
But also specifically artists that I thought were "summery" or had good music for the summer; or good albums (for my summer playlist).
And because how often do we actually read lyrics, analyze, or watch music videos? Or even experience the album in the "special" order it was intended and composed in (as in, it the songs didn't have to be made in that order, but I highly doubt the order is random, on the contrary, very thought-out).
I was really inspired by the music videos. Some of them were such a shock. They even made me think about the song completely differently. I had my own conceptions about the song and suddenly I was wondering, "is this what the artist had intended?" "is this what the song is actually about?" And I was actually completely wrong? Listening to it like some kind of imposter, thinking it's about one thing and interpreting it that way, enjoying it that way, when really, it should be different ways all along?
It also made me think about who really makes those music videos? Is it the artist themselves? Or does somebody else come up with the ideas entirely?
Is it someone's job? (I think it's a really cool job!)
I was then thinking about how cool it would be to think of the ideas for a music video and even film it.
There's the creativity of the ideas of the music video itself. Videography and angles is a part of it.
I'm curious if music videos are made to be a complete alternate interpretation of the song of the original intent. Probably differs. But some music videos are really calm, or just the artist basically singing the song.
But it's interesting how a lot of them are similar. And the specific moments that are chosen to be "voiced over" or the scenes with each specific lyric and vocal, how all of that is chosen.
It seems a lot of music videos have a couple of "scenes" or "sets" that it just keeps going back to and alternates between.
Some are overdone. Rose petals in bathtubs. Swimming, bathing suits, wet hair. Almost like they're a perfume commercial too. Perhaps I should go back and look for product placement.
And after watching so many of them, I feel like I've developed a real sense for what I like and what I don't and what I would do differently.
Almost like I could critique it, be in the field, get a job as either critiquing or making them myself. Like how fun would it be if some artist came to you when some new banger they dropped and were like, "here, interpret this. create." And it's never even a job I have thought of existing. But watching those music videos made me realize it definitely is a job, multiple (there must be dancers, makeup artists, stylists, directors, producers, etc) and a lot has to go into it.
Also, how fun would it be to make a music video yourself? Seems kind-of stupid but fun! Especially if you really love music or a particular song. And especially if you love everything that goes into it. You could do your interpretations. Be your own director. Be your own videographer. Every angle, every moment you choose. I think we have all often felt like we are the main character anyway, walking down a street listening to music or something. Basically a music video right there. Something about listening to music in public is so fun. Like you're sharing the moment but you're not. Maybe you just feel cool because the song is cool, but it's fun either way. Like some kind-of main character effect.
I feel like I clearly like so much that goes into it. Here's my elevator pitch for why I would be perfect.
Interest in photography/videography
Love reflecting on things and interpreting
Creative and I feel like I have good taste?
Love music!
Love sharing music with others!
